Today marks the release of the first installment of Lionel’s complete survey of Ravel’s orchestral works with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, where he is in his second season as Chief Conductor and Music Director, on Deutsche Grammophon.
Recorded with the TOZ’s 2014-15 season Artist-in-Residence Yuja Wang, the album pairs the composer’s two orchestral works for piano: the Piano Concerto in G and Piano Concert for the Left Hand. Both works were performed live by Wang with Lionel and the Orchestra, as will all pieces featured in the Ravel Cycle, which is set to conclude at the end of this year. A complete box set will be made available by Deutsche Grammophon in 2016.
