Following his tour of Spain with the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, Lionel Bringuier returns to France for three concerts with the Orchestre National de Lyon and cellist Gautier Capuçon, on May 3 & 4 in Lyon and on May 5 in Evian. This season, Bringuier is “Artiste associé” with the ensemble, leading them in a series of performances throughout the season.
Works featured in these concerts include Guillaume Connesson’s Feux d’artifice, Haydn’s Cello Concerto No.1 in C major, Hob.VIIb:1 with Mr. Capuçon as soloist, and Rachmaninov’s Symphony No 2 in E minor, Op. 27. Mr. Bringuier and Mr. Capuçon work together frequently; an audio recording of their collaboration featuring works by Saint-Saëns can be found via Lionel’s Discography page.
Critical acclaim from a 2015 concert with the Cleveland Orchestra:
“Bringuier and Capuçon studied in the same studio at the Paris Conservatoire, and they brought a long artistic relationship as well as a lot of celloistic savvy to this performance … Gautier Capuçon embraced the concerto with passion, flair and freedom, and Bringuier and the Orchestra were at his heels at every turn in the drama.” (ClevelandClassical.com)
