Lionel Bringuier returns to Zurich this month, for a series of concerts with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, highlighting some of the world’s most acclaimed soloists. They present Dvořák’s Violin Concerto, Op. 53 on June 16 & 17, featuring violinist Lisa Batiashvili (15-16 TOZ Artist-in-Residence), along with Mahler’s epic Symphony No. 1.
Pianist Hélène Grimaud is a featured soloist with the Tonhalle Orchestra and Mr. Bringuier on June 22 & 23 for a spectacularly curated programme, showcasing Ms. Grimaud on Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 83. Satie’s Gymnopedies 1 & 3 (Arr. by Debussy) and Mozart’s Symphony Concertante for Four Winds, with oboist Simon Fuchs, clarinetist Michael Reid, bassoonist Matthias Racz, and hornist Ivo Glass, can also be heard on these not-to-be-missed concerts.
Ms. Grimaud is also a featured soloist on June 24 in a concert event titled “Classic meets Electronic.” Hélène reprises her performance of the Brahms concerto on this evening, which also includes electronic music by Luke Slater / Planetary Assault Systems and DJ Dario D’Attis, in collaboration with soloists from the Orchestra. Image and light projections will be created and displayed by Projektil Visuals.
