Tomorrow finds Lionel Bringuier in Leipzig where he returns to the city’s Gewandhaus for a concert that reunites the French conductor with violinist Leonidas Kavakos. Together, the pair performs Sibelius’s Violin Concerto, which is preceded by the composer’s Finlandia. The second half of the program hears two of Lionel’s signature works, Kodály’s Dances of Galanta and Stravinsky’s The Firebird Suite. Performances take place March 19 and 20.
Lionel made his debut with the Gewandhaus Orchester in January of 2013 where he led Roussel’s Symphony No. 3 in G Minor. He recently shared the stage with Kavakos in June 2013 at the New York Philharmonic, where he conducted Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2 as well as the same works by Kodály and Stravinsky.
