Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich embarks on first tour under leadership of Lionel Bringuier

Chief Conductor and Music Director Lionel Bringuier leads the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich on a tour of France, Germany, and Austria February 28 through March 8. With music that includes a work by Tonhalle Creative Chair Esa-Pekka Salonen and performances from Tonhalle Artist-in-Residence Yuja Wang, the tour amplifies Lionel’s work with the orchestra in his inaugural year at its helm.

They begin in Lyon on February 28 with Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3, featuring Yuja Wang, coupled with Stravinsky’s The Firebird Suite and Ravel’s La valse. The program is repeated in Toulouse on March 2, Frankfurt on March 3, Hamburg on March 4, and Bremen on March 5. On March 7, Lionel leads the orchestra in Vienna with Esa-Pekka Salonen’s Helix, Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with Yuja, and Ravel’s orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. The Tonhalle tour concludes in Munich on March 8 with Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 and Pictures at an Exhibition.
