This month, Lionel Bringuier makes his debut in Israel with the country’s eponymous philharmonic, giving performances in Jerusalem, Haifa, and Tel Aviv.
The French conductor is first heard with the orchestra on January 22, where he leads a program of Ravel’s Rapsodie Espagnole and Piano Concerto—the latter with soloist and frequent collaborator Yuja Wang. The evening concludes with Ravel’s orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.
Lionel and Yuja reprise the program with the IPO in Haifa on January 25 and 26, before encoring it once more in Tel Aviv on January 28. Ravel’s Piano Concerto and orchestration of Pictures are also heard on January 24 and 29 in Tel Aviv and in these concerts are preceded by Berlioz’s Roman Carnival.
