On November 20 and 21, Chief Conductor and Music Director Lionel Bringuier launches a multi-season exploration of Ravel’s complete orchestral works with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich. One of the many programs implemented in the French conductor’s inaugural season at the helm of the orchestra, the Ravel Cycle will first hear the composer’s Le Tombeau de Couperin and La Valse, paired with Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with soloist Renaud Capuçon, and the Swiss premiere of Tanguy’s Eclipse.
The following week, Lionel returns to the Tonhalle for a program that features two works by Ravel: Un Barque sur l’océan and Valses Nobles. These are paired with Strauss’sVier Letzte Lieder with soprano Anja Harteros, Schubert’s Zauberharfe Overture, and Stravinsky’s The Firebird Suite.
