In association with the Besançon conducting competition, this month Arte Live Web is streaming two videos of Lionel conducting L’orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. Lionel won the competition in 2005 aged 18. The first programme consists of Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances, Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1 played by Gautier Capuçon. Henri Dutilleux Metabolism and Scriabin’s Poem of Ecstasy. The second concert, filmed in April 2011 sees Lionel conduct Chopin’s 2nd Piano Concerto and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No 5.
