This month, Lionel Bringuier returns to his hometown for his first concerts as Artist Associate for Opéra de Nice’s season. Lionel has invited esteemed soloists and friends to perform with him, as he leads the Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice in several special concerts. Lionel was assigned this appointment personally by the Mayor of Nice, who entrusted Lionel with the task of curating a program to stretch this excellent orchestra, and by doing so, emphasize Opéra de Nice as a cultural center of excellence.
The first two concerts on September 26 & 27, will be held as part of the Victorine Festival, an event organized by the city on the centenary of the famous film studios. Mr. Bringuier will present two famous works featured in the iconic film Fantasia: Paul Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. To crown this evening, Hélène Grimaud interprets Maurice Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major, a work of immense strength, celebrated for the complexity of the emotion that it presents.
