Lionel Bringuier returns to the Royal Swedish Opera to conduct a new production of Verdi’s Rigoletto. This production by Sofia Jupither, a Swedish film and theater director, amplifies the power of men over vulnerable women in a world where fear dominates. Verdi’s revolutionary opera still draws crowds today with its notable melodies and tragic story based on Victor Hugo’s controversial play.

The production premieres on November 24 and will run until January 4. Maestro Bringuier will lead from the pit for all dates. The sparkling cast will include Karl-Magnus Fredriksson in the title role, Leonardo Capalbo as the Duke of Mantua, Ida Falk Winland as Gilda, John Erik Eleby as Sparafucile, and Katarina Leoson as Maddalena.
