Returning to Zurich following his performances in Asia, Lionel Bringuier conducts an intriguing programme of contemporary works with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zurich and soloists, including pianist Emanuel Ax, violinists Julia Becker and George-Cosmin Banica, violist Katja Fuchs, and cellist Anita Leuzinger. This November 10 concert gives the Zurich audience an opportunity to hear rarely performed works, including HK Gruber’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra (Swiss Premiere) with Mr. Ax, Henri Dutilleux’ Symphony No. 1, and Brett Dean’s String Quartet No. 1 (“Eclipse”). Mr. Dean is currently the Creative Chair for the TOZ’s 2017/18 season, a role established as part of an initiative by Mr. Bringuier and the orchestra to collaborate with living composers.
