Closing the summer season, Lionel Bringuier travels to two of Europe’s premiere festivals, leading programmes with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich that include celebrated mainstays of the orchestral and concerto canon. On August 25, Mr. Bringuier conducts at the Rheingau Musik Festival, in an evening featuring Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73 with the Festival’s Artist-in-Residence, Igor Levit, as soloist. Works that follow include Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 and Elgar’s Enigma Variations, Op. 36. Mr. Bringuier and Mr. Levit will reunite in the spring of 2018 on tour with the TOZ throughout Europe; visit Bringuier’s Schedule page for dates and programme information.
Bringuier and the TOZ then travel to Italy, for a concert at the renowned Stresa Festival, hosted at the Stresa Convention Center on August 27. The evening, titled “Luci del Nord” (Northern Lights) includes Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 with pianist Francesco Piemontesi, in addition to the Grieg and Elgar works mentioned above, from two of the greatest Nordic composers in the repertoire. Tickets are available at the following link; please note there are special offers for all attendees under the age of 26, encouraging new audiences to attend the Festival.
