Lionel Bringuier leads the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich in a series of three concerts this month, including two dates on tour in Bodrum, Turkey. On August 25, they present an open-air performance at the D-Marin Turgutreis featuring cellist Gautier Capuçon on Dvorák’s Cello Concerto, Op. 104, along with Schumann’s Symphony No. 4, Op. 120. The following evening, on August 26, Mr. Bringuier and the TOZ are joined by violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja, again in concert at the D-Marin Turgutreis. Works highlighted on this programme include Tchaikovsky’s ever-popular Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35 and Dvorák’s Symphony No. 8, Op. 88.
August 31 marks a return to Zurich for Lionel and the TOZ, when they present a concert programme titled ‘Young Soloists on Stage.’ This not-to-be-missed event showcases young musicians on the path to prominent careers. Pianist Sophie Pacini performs Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, Op. 58, and violinist Marc Bouchkov is the soloist on Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, Op. 47. The TOZ caps off the evening with Strauss’ resplendent “Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche.”
