In the wake of his successful return to the Los Angeles Philharmonic last week, Lionel Bringuier rejoins the Sydney Symphony Orchestra this week for three concerts July 15, 17, and 18. The performances reunite Lionel with last Tuesday’s Hollywood Bowl partner, Yuja Wang, for Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 2. Brahms is preceded by Jörg Widmann’s Con brio, heard here in its Australian premiere. The program also gives a nod to Lionel’s programmatic vision as the Chief Conductor and Music Director of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, where Yuja served as Artist-in-Residence for the 2014-15 season and where Widmann will serve as Creative Chair for the 2015-16 season.
The performances are rounded out by Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8. Click here for ticket information.
